Se han anunciado los candidatos a los premios CMA 2016 que se entregarán el 2 de Noviembre, en la que será su 50 edición. Eric Church, Maren Morris y Chris Stapleton tienen 5 nominaciones, y Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood y Dierks Bentley  tienen 4. Sorprendentemente ni Eric Church ni Dierks Bentley están nominados en Entertainer del año, la categoría principal donde están nominados Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood y Keith Urban. Sorprende también la ausencia de nominaciones de Brad Paisley o Blake Shelton, o Miranda Lambert con una nominación.

El anuncio se ha realizado en directo desde el Opry durante el programa Good Morning America de la cadena ABC que será la encargada de retransmitir la gala en EEUU. Los encargados han sido Dierks Bentley, Cam y Keith Urban.
